STAFFING ------------------------
The department has 20 members of staff of which 19 are academic and one is administrative. The academic staff is made up of one (1) Ph. D., four (4) MA/M.PHIL./MPAs, four (4) professional Lawyers (with one on Part-Time) and six (6) first degree holders.
PROGRAMMES/COURSES ---------------
The department offers courses in Communication skills, Law, English, French, Entrepreneurship, African studies, Technical Report Writing and Research methodology.
The other subjects taught include Human Resource Management, Human Relations and General Education.
Being an auxiliary department, the main objective of this department is to assist the entire specialised programmes of the Polytechnic to produce qualified middle-level manpower for industry and commerce in both public and private sectors of the economy of Ghana.
Students therefore do not graduate directly in the courses taught by the department.
RESEARCH --------------------------------
A member of staff of the department is currently working on “Developing methodology for linking Polytechnics, Industry and Commerce.
PLANS ------------------------------------- The department has completed plans to run an HND programme in Advertising and Promotion. The programme is currently awaiting accreditation. |
