STAFFING ------------------------

The staff is committed to its primary duties of teaching and research. Currently, the department can boast of 15 lecturers comprising 12 full-time and 3 part-time lecturers.

COURSES -------------------------

The department currently runs HND courses in Accountancy vis-à-vis other courses in Advanced Business Certificate Examinations (ABCE) formerly known as RSA III and Diploma in Business Studies (Accounting Option).

STUDENT ENROLMENT --------------------

The total number of students for 2004/2005 academic year is 1,711. The breakdown is as follows:

Total student enrolment of the department stands at 1,711.

PART-TIME HND PROGRAMME ----------

The department’s HND part-time programme is in its second year and 333 students are currently pursuing the programme.

FUTURE -------------------------------------

The department has plans to run B-Tech in the immediate future. The department also intends to add another dimension to the part-time HND programme by introducing a week-end part-time HND programme. This will come on stream during 2006.

In addition to the above, plans are also far advanced to introduce the pre-JCA course for SSS students who intend pursuing the Professional Accountancy Course of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
